Big Spoon House

The Big Spoon House began as a simple bathroom remodel. But, when we started peeling back the layers, it was clear that we were just getting started on a comprehensive gut-job that transformed this neglected property into something magical. The result is a home that establishes clean lines and simple materials while establishing a unique sense of place.

project type: single-family | location: Matthews Beach, Seattle, WA | client: Peter Secan | complete: 2022

The basic form and footprint of the house were left unchanged, while interior organization, fenestration, and materials were all completely replaced.

A dark, protective exterior gives way to a bright, light-filled interior experience. Windows and doors were organized carefully in order to best perserve views in, through, and out of the house.
