Martis Camp House

Martis Camp is a housing community just outside of Truckee, California near the north short of Lake Tahoe. This house was designed as two intersecting angled forms, which widen in the middle to open the public areas of the home to a sweeping roof deck that provides views out towards the lake. The interior program was designed around this simple geometric twist, leading to an interesting architectural form and interior experience.

project type: single family home | location: Martis Camp, Truckee, CA | client: Martis Camp | complete: 2018

The intersecting boomerangs create natural moments of compression and expansion, while taking cues from the existing topography and vegetation.

Cantilevered forms and a single, canopy-style roofline help to create an exterior composition that is constantly changing and reacting to the Northern California landscape.
