Little Spoon House

The Little Spoon DADU was conceived as the other part of a whole lot development in a residential neighborhood in Seattle. It helps maximize the zoning footprint, adds density, and secure privacy for both itself and the primary residence. Most importantly, it blends the site perfectly with itself, embracing a challenging design problem while celebrating existing topography and site trees.

project type: single-family | location: Matthews Beach, Seattle, WA | client: Peter Secan | complete: TBD 2026

The form mimics that of the primary residence, while utilizing the in-between spaces that existed on the site. A large tree anchors the design, which can be viewed at various points throughout the house.

The street-facing facade celebrates the relationship to the neighborhood. These two units embrace the street, with a large entry stoop and big glazed openings.
